The performer displays a set of 29 laminated cards on each of which appears a word of anywhere from five to twelve letters. He then turns his back. A spectator examines the cards and selects one. He puts the others aside. There is no force of any kind; it is a completely free choice. The performer has no knowledge of the word until the trick, is completed! As a matter of fact, if an extension telephone or intercom is available, the, entire effect can be done with the performer in one room and the spectator in the other!

The performer asks the person to look at each word and concentrate on it. The performer the begins to call out the letters of which he, the performer, "receives an impression." One at a time, the performer calls out the letters as the spectator checks them off on the card. The spectator tells the performer when all the letters in the word have been named. The performer then unscrambles the letters and reveals the word on the spectator's card.
