This is one of those clever effects that will really baffle you audience.
You bring out your long rope and toss one end to an audience member. Toss the other end to another audience member. Have them tug on the rope proving solid. Now grab the rope while standing in front of it and begin to pull the rope towards the center of your body. The rope visually appears as the rope has melted through your body.
