Alex Linian’s magic is built from the ground up around carefully constructed impossibilities. His work is direct, often incredibly visual, and designed to make sense, creating moments that are as clear as they are impossible.

In this lecture, Alex will perform and explain material drawn from more than two decades of
creating and performing close-up magic. He’ll discuss original premises and transformative
refinements to established plots, innovative methods and tools, and groundbreaking
sleight-of-hand techniques—all focused on creating the strongest possible magical experience.

With his detailed, no-frills teaching, Alex will explore every idea thoroughly, making even
sophisticated concepts accessible. An inspiring session for magicians of all levels. Alongside complete, performance-ready routines, attendees will leave with versatile techniques and thoughtful approaches to constructing magic that is clear, meaningful, and deeply mysterious.

BIO
Alex Linian is a Peruvian-American sleight-of-hand artist and creator. He has spent more than
two decades performing, developing, and publishing original close-up magic, and is a Latin
American champion of card magic.
Alex has appeared on Penn & Teller: Fool Us and is a resident magician at the renowned
Chicago Magic Lounge. He has worked with legendary magic creator Paul Harris, and his
original magic has been performed on television by David Blaine.

LECTURE CONTENTS
Lecture contents include:

Prisma
Alex’s signature effect, in which the backs of selected cards change to match any color freely named by the spectators. Think-a-Drink meets the Chicago Opener.

Puncture
Alex’s celebrated visual pen-through-coin effect. A borrowed coin is visibly pierced by an
ordinary pen and then restored. Over and over. You won’t believe your eyes.

The Miracle Fold
Alex’s groundbreaking one-handed method for secretly folding a playing card. He will teach the technique in detail and explore its applications to impossible locations, predictions, and transformations.

The Wedding Waltz
Alex’s reimagining of the classic Anniversary Waltz plot, with a structure that makes the effect more logical, more meaningful, and even more impossible.

In Case
A spectator suddenly becomes unable to remove a deck of cards from its box. It’s the classic Light and Heavy Chest reimagined with playing cards, featuring an entirely original method, design, and presentation.
