Mentalism doesn't get any more direct than this. You show an envelope that contains a single business card inside. This envelope never leaves their sight as you ask a spectator to name a number. There are no restrictions, they can change their mind, and they can even try to mess you up with a decimal or negative number. With otherwise empty hands, you remove the business card from the envelope (yes, it is the only thing in the envelope), and the number they named is predicted on the other side.

You don't have to do this with a number - since it's customizable, you can use a word, a color, a name, or anything else you can think of. You aren't limited to a fixed number of outs, and this works 100% of the time. But what really makes this deceptive is the fact that the audience can see the business card the entire time - even when it's still in the envelope!
